How We Developed the DKB’s Legal Library
The Network for Public Health Law (NPHL) has partnered with the DASH Initiative to curate a stellar collection of legal resources for the DASH Knowledge Base, or DKB. Their landscape analysis, which describes their collection methodology and results, is a valuable resource in its own right.
We recently introduced the world to the DASH Knowledge Base, or DKB (you can read our announcement at this link and view our introductory webinar at this one). One of the most exciting things about launching the DKB is that it includes a collection of legal resources impeccably curated by our friends at the Network for Public Health Law (NPHL).
NPHL has partnered with the DASH initiative in the past, co-producing the data-sharing legal framework Pathways to Yes and collaborating on related webinars and presentations. We were delighted to partner with them again on this expansive and up-to-date collection.
The legal collection comprises 171 current and publicly available resources to support public health collaborations and cross-sector partners in their data-sharing efforts. Users can find strategies for implementing responsible, effective, and equitable data sharing practices as well as clarity on relevant laws. Resources include practical tools such as templates, model agreements, and governance frameworks as well as briefs, reports, and white papers.
If you're curious how the work got done, you can read all about NPHL's methodology in their excellent Legal Library Landscape Analysis. The landscape analysis also catalogs trends in resource topics and changes in those trends compared with earlier analyses.
The DKB's digital shelves are even fuller thanks to NPHL's legal collection and landscape scan. We hope you find these offerings as fascinating as we do!
